Raising awareness for inclusivity in healthcare

Our client, a senior UK academic and charity volunteer, was keen to launch a PR campaign to raise awareness of the importance of accessible healthcare for all, while sharing her unorthodox journey to professorship to help inspire other women and girls considering a STEM career.

Media thought leader

Sometimes in PR, you have a client whose stories you just know are going to land superbly with the media, and this client was that! We shared her story widely with business, consumer and health media to maximise audience reach and start her journey towards creating a library of thought leadership articles she’d be invited to write as the named author.

Award judging panellist

Already an accomplished academic in the area of inclusive healthcare, our client was no stranger to being nominated for and winning awards. We helped her continue along the awards pathway by putting her forward to join high-calibre awards judging panels. This provided her with a wealth of material to share on social media, empowering her to reach a wider audience with her important messages.

Podcast interviewee

We recognised straightaway that our client was unique in her field. Her background, down to earth approach and the instant connection she made with people subverted the public’s expectation of what a senior academic may look and sound like. While achieving online and print coverage was critical, we also wanted our client to have the opportunity to have her voice heard through broadcast media, and so launched a pitch campaign to have her appear on carefully selected podcasts.

The results

A name, a face and a mission

In one year alone, we arranged for our client to judge two major awards – one a big name in business, and the other, a leading healthcare awards body. Not only did she join the panels, she was also asked to play a bigger roll by speaking at one of the events.

Following our podcast outreach, our client was invited to share her expertise on three podcasts, was interviewed for an international business publication, and was invited to write named author articles for a wide variety of publications, including in the world of healthcare and management. She has also appeared in regional as well as national consumer media titles.

Her rapidly growing personal and professional profile has provided her with a new richness of material to share across her owned channels, leading to a wider network with whom she is enjoying sharing her knowledge, learnings and overall mission.
